To me this is a red letter day. I sit here and think of the last 11 years, how they have changed our lives. We have been in a war against Terror for 11 years!! It began the second the first plane hit the WTC. I still get a feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think of that day.
Where were you? How did you cope? I can still remember the words of the radio announcer as they were talking about what was going on in NYC. The shock and disbelief, the despair, the simple feeling that we as a country were no longer safe on our shores. The WTC had been hit, twice, and the Pentagon hit by evil men who wanted to cripple us, and for that day, I think they did. In some other countries, people rejoiced that the USA had been hit, they celebrated in the streets, while here we cried. But I think they forgot the words of a Japanese Commander, “We have awoken a sleeping giant”.
In the days after September 11, 2001, our country came together as a whole, cried out for blood, we wanted to get the sorry son of a guns who did this to us, and we needed it.
Today, as we think of where we were, how we felt, the compassion we felt for our fellow Americans who were facing this tragedy in NYC and around the world, we need to remember the feeling of being united. That feeling soon was gone, and it was back to business as usual. Our world changed that day. Business would never be normal again.
I will never forget, and I will do my best to make sure no one does.
God Bless The USA!!
