Its July 4th.

July 4th, and it seems no fireworks will be set off in the entire state of Colorado, but that’s ok.  There are still many parades to go see, military flyovers, a brass band, the Durango Silverton train will be decked out in its finest, it will be a good day.

Yesterday, we went up to Eureka and Animas Forks to just root around.  Back in 2003 we were at Eureka and walked back along the stream until we found a very nice waterfall.

I have tried quite a few times to go back to it, but the stream was running too fast, deep and was blocked by  a log jam.

Yesterday, well, it was my chance, we pulled up to the area and the water was low…so, I grabbed the camera and while Terry was talking to a man from Mo.  I took off.

Just up this gorge a bit and I will be there, I just have to watch my footing, but I  did it before I can do it again.

Yep, I was going up this thing, if it killed me.  I already know whats waiting for me at the end.

Here is one of the cool shots I got with the water coming down hitting the rock and making quite a sight, I have to say, some people love sunsets, etc, I love waterfalls.

I got to the top and crossed the stream again so I could get shots from every angle I could, and looked down and saw some trolley wheels in the water, they must have used this gorge to get gold down the mountain to be milled and processed.

I got back down the gorge and Terry asked me how far I had gotten, I just looked at him and laughed.  How far, really?  I just had to show him the pictures!

We then went up to Animas Forks, but it started raining, so no looking around for me, besides, to get back down the gorge I had to step in water that was deep enough to go up my to my knee, so I was shoe and sockless!..But I did get a neat picture of the town.

Its amazing to me that this town had 2 major streets and people lived there year round, I have seen how much snow they can get, we have been up there in the spring after they plow the roads…and you just cant get to the houses from the road unless you use dog sleds!!

I hope you all had a great 4th, stay safe, I know we are doing our best to!
